After installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1, every time I start up Windows a dialogue says my Zboard driver stopped working and then automatically closes.
The fix for this is easier than I thought;
- Uninstall your old “Z Engine” Application
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features. If you don’t do it here the installer for the new version of the driver will bug you about it when you try and install it later. - The SteelSeries web site has the updated driver
- Go to http://steelseries.com/support/downloads (Step 4 has links that lead to the US version of the Win 2000, Win XP, Win Vista, Win 7 driver)
- Click Keyboards
- Look for “STEELSERIES ZBOARD USB”
- Whether or not your OS is x86 or x64, download the appropriate driver.
Direct download for the 32 bit US Driver
Direct Download for the 64 bit US Driver - Installing the driver
Navigate to the place you saved the driver and run the setup wizard - Profit
You should now be all set and your keyboard should once again function in Windows 7, Service Pack or no pack.
